The combustion control coordinates the supply of air and fuel to a furnace depending on its load demand. It is important to find a balance between the following points:
- compliance with emission limits,
- high plant availability,
- optimization of efficiency by minimal air excess and maximum burnout,
- high load change rate, and
- low wear and maintenance requirements.
In existing plants, it is rarely possible to implement completely new combustion and output control systems. Often, however, there exists great potential for optimization through simple adjustments in existing systems.
